Wickliffe, OK

Wickliffe is a census-designated place in eastern Mayes County, Oklahoma, south of Salina and near Pump Back and Kenwood. The 2020 census counted 1,026 residents. Roads through the community follow the rolling country east of the county’s larger towns, with Salina providing nearby services and the Grand River region close by. Wickliffe is split between two school systems: Wickliffe Public School serves the elementary grades in one part of the area, while Salina Public Schools serves the other.

The place’s local story is less about a town square than about the roads and school lines that organize daily life. Its eastern Mayes County setting carries the history of Osage country, early trading routes, and later farming and ranching communities around Grand River. A post office and the school districts keep Wickliffe on the map even though it has no separate municipal government. The community remains a small Oklahoma settlement with a clear school name, a rural crossroads, and close ties to Salina. Wickliffe’s geography is easiest to understand from the valley roads and district boundaries that connect it to its neighbors.
