Wilber, NE

Wilber is Saline County's seat, a city of 1,937 residents at the 2020 census. It was platted in 1873 by C. D. Wilber, and the county seat moved here from Pleasant Hill in 1878. Nebraska Highway 103/41 meets at the town's edge, while the square and Hotel Wilber hold the older county-seat layout. The Czech presence began in Saline County in 1865, and Wilber's official Czech Capital designation gives the small city a cultural thread that is easy to locate on the street.

Every August, Czech Days turns that history into a working calendar. The festival began in 1962 and now brings parades, Czech royalty, church services, a museum, craft shop, and the Hotel Wilber into the same weekend. The Czech Museum keeps artifacts tied to the community's heritage, while Wilber-Clatonia High School serves the local area. Wilber's county offices and Czech institutions share a compact place, so local government and immigrant history remain visible on the same downtown map.
