About Willow

Willow is a sprawling census-designated community in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough of Alaska, situated along the George Parks Highway northwest of Wasilla. Historically founded after the 1897 discovery of gold on Willow Creek, the town is the largest census-designated community by land area in the nation. Today, Willow is famous as the official host of the restart of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the nearby Willow Creek State Recreation Area and Nancy Lake.
