About Winchester
Winchester is a west St. Louis County city of 1,447 residents in the 2020 census, incorporated in 1935 and set among the roads that connect the county's western suburbs with St. Louis. Reber Park packs a lot of Winchester's regular activity into one place: playgrounds, an adult fitness area, two ballfields, picnic tables, horseshoe pits, a pavilion, and a gazebo. League practices use the fields during spring and late summer, and the park hosts seasonal events, reunions, and neighborhood gatherings. Its pavilion and gazebo are reservable for spring-through-fall gatherings. That gives Winchester a useful rhythm for a newcomer: follow the boulevards to Reber Park, then use Interstate 64 and Highway 141 for the larger St. Louis orbit. The local read is a small municipality whose character comes through its park, its road network, and its place in west-county life.
