Winchester, OK

Winchester is an Okmulgee County town in eastern Oklahoma, with 546 residents in the 2020 census. It began as a planned residential community on 2,500 acres acquired by William D. Crews in 1959 and incorporated on February 18, 1974. The town lies about twenty-five miles south of downtown Tulsa, with roads stretching between 241st Street and State Highway 16 across former pasture and open country.

Winchester’s local story is about a newer Oklahoma town built for people who wanted room outside the city. That planned beginning gives Winchester a different feel from the older crossroads towns scattered across eastern Oklahoma.
