Windsor, NJ

Windsor is a small historic unincorporated community and census-designated place within Robbinsville Township, Mercer County. The community was established as Centerville in 1818, renamed Windsor in 1848, and later grew around the Camden and Amboy Railroad and the John Bull locomotive. The railroad made Windsor a stop for travelers and farm goods, while mills and surrounding farms gave the village a working center. Windsor entered the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, and about 55 homes remain in styles ranging from Greek Revival and Italianate to Gothic Revival and Queen Anne.

You can still find the village at Main and Church Streets, beside the railroad tracks. Windsor Methodist Church, the former Windsor School, Odd Fellows Hall and Grange Hall, and other older structures keep the historic core visible, while the Tuckaraming Trail and Robbinsville Township roads connect it to the wider township. Robbinsville Township School District serves the community. Windsor is an older village inside a larger township, with its streets and buildings preserving the transportation pattern that made it a local center.
