About Winfield
Winfield is a DuPage County village west of Chicago, set along the DuPage River. It first tried to incorporate in 1884 under the name Frederick Park, and that older village story still shows in its compact center and local institutions. Winfield is home to one of the oldest taverns in the Chicago suburbs, now John's Restaurant, and is known regionally for Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital. It feels like a quieter west-suburban community with river scenery, commuter rail access, and a strong medical presence.
