About Winter Springs
Winter Springs began around 1865 as the community of Tuskawilla. It incorporated in 1959 as North Orlando, but because it did not adjoin Orlando and the name caused confusion, the city became Winter Springs in 1972. Winter Springs lies in south-central Seminole County and is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. The 2020 census recorded 38,342 residents. Its humid subtropical climate brings hot, humid summers and generally mild winters.
