About Wisdom

Wisdom is a census-designated place in Beaverhead County, Montana, United States. The 2020 census counted 104 residents. The town includes three tourist lodgings, service station, grocery, school, post office and a Forest Service office. Wisdom was named for the Wisdom River, which is now named the Big Hole River, that passes through the town. Wisdom schools provides education from kindergarten through 8th grade. In 2021, 7 students were enrolled. That mix gives Wisdom a clear local shape within Montana, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. The post office opened in 1884. Wisdom is located along Montana Highway 43.
