Wixom is a western Oakland County city in Metro Detroit, with roots going back to an 1831 settlement. For decades it was closely associated with auto manufacturing through the Wixom Assembly Plant, once a major Ford facility before its demolition. The city still has a mix of industrial land, office parks, lakeside neighborhoods, and suburban subdivisions, with most of the community served by Walled Lake Consolidated Schools.
