About Wolf Creek

Wolf Creek is an unincorporated community in Lewis and Clark County, Montana, United States, along Interstate 15, 28 miles north of Helena. The 2020 census counted 25 residents. In 1887, the Montana Central Railway built its line through the narrow Prickly Pear Canyon, and Wolf Creek, named for the creek, grew to serve the railroad. Wolf Creek later served workers building the Holter Dam from 1908–1910. The through line in Wolf Creek is the way its history and present-day settings remain visible on the same map. Wolf Creek makes the most sense through those concrete details, with its history still visible in the settings people use today.
