About Woodbine

Woodbine is Camden County’s seat on the south bank of the Satilla River, a coastal Georgia city whose name was set by a railroad bargain. The site was known as Pile’s Bluff in eighteenth-century records; when the railroad crossed the old plantation in 1893, the landowner required the first settlement around the tracks to be called Woodbine. The county seat moved here in 1928, and the city was reincorporated in 1953. Today the Riverwalk and Satilla Waterfront Park share the map with the annual Crawfish Festival. Woodbine is southeast Georgia with tidal-river geography, a courthouse-town role, and a festival that takes the waterfront seriously.
