Woodbourne, NY

Tucked into the Catskills along the Neversink River, Woodbourne is a small Sullivan County community with around 400 year-round residents. Life here centers on the scenic crossing where Routes 42 and 52 meet over the water, giving locals easy access to neighboring towns across the valley. It is a quiet, unassuming spot surrounded by wooded hills and great stretches of river for fishing and paddling.

First settled in the late 1700s, Woodbourne later became a popular stop during the Catskills resort era, filled with summer cottages and lively boarding houses. You can still spot that history throughout town, from the classic 1930s Center Theatre to the distinctive Church of the Immaculate Conception. Today, it remains a relaxed place to put down roots if you want peaceful mountain scenery within easy reach of the region's larger hubs.
