About Woodbury

At 46 acres, Syosset-Woodbury Community Park functions as Woodbury's public recreation campus. The scale of that Town of Oyster Bay facility also helps clarify Woodbury's civic identity: this is an unincorporated hamlet and census-designated place, not a village with its own municipal government. It sits in Nassau County on Long Island, roughly 35 miles east of Midtown Manhattan, and is commonly grouped with neighboring Syosset. Woodbury had 9,335 residents in the 2020 census. Nearly 31 percent of residents were 65 or older, and workers' average travel time was about 35 minutes. The community park supports routines in every season rather than serving only as open lawn. Its facilities include a nature trail, playground, picnic area, basketball and bocce courts, five tennis courts, handball and shuffleboard courts, ballfields, and a multiuse turf field.

The same grounds hold a seasonal pool complex and an outdoor ice rink. Access rules differ: the Town's 2026 pool program required proof of Oyster Bay residency for admission or membership, while the ice rink published both resident and nonresident prices. Swim lessons and a municipal swim team use the pool during summer. The park also hosted a spring festival in April 2026 and scheduled a three-night Fright Night and Haunted Forest for October, putting large Town events close to neighborhood recreation. Woodbury lies within the Syosset Central School District, while Town government supplies many of the public facilities residents use outside school. For someone comparing addresses, that combination of hamlet status, school-district boundaries, and Town-resident access is more informative than treating Woodbury as a self-contained municipality.
