Woodside’s public trail system is partly supported by stable permits, making horses a matter of municipal infrastructure as well as private recreation. Town records counted 391 horses under 99 permits in March 2026, and the adopted budget directs a per-horse permit fee toward trail maintenance and water crossings. An appointed committee monitors the equestrian and pedestrian routes, while the town publishes evacuation guidance for horse owners. The surrounding county parks extend that network. Wunderlich Park covers more than 900 acres of redwood forest, meadow, oak, and madrone, with hiking and riding trails and the restored Folger stable and carriage museum. Huddart Park adds redwoods, meadows, picnic and barbecue areas, a playground, and more riding and walking routes.

The Skyline Trail, part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail, connects the two parks for pedestrians and equestrians. Filoli presents a different use of the foothill landscape. Its 654-acre estate contains a 1917 Georgian Revival house, 16 acres of formal gardens, natural lands, and two hiking loops. The Lamchin Interpretive Center, developed with the Association of Ramaytush Ohlone, places the estate on ancestral Lamchin land and brings contemporary Ohlone perspectives into a heavily preserved historic property. Shared life in town is smaller in scale but persistent.

Woodside Library keeps daily hours and schedules storytimes, reading support, hands-on workshops, and seasonal programs. The town’s 104th May Day parade and carnival took place in 2026 alongside a fun run, while First Friday gatherings provide recurring civic programs. Its 2020 population was 5,309 across 11.47 square miles; by 2024, the estimate was 5,123. Census estimates covering 2019–2023 put owner occupancy at 85.6 percent and the share of residents age 65 or older at 22.7 percent. Large parcels and wooded slopes set the physical pattern; trails, parks, the library, and long-running events supply recurring public routines within it.
