Woodstock, GA

Woodstock’s name comes from Walter Scott’s 1826 novel, and its early growth followed the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Georgia incorporated the Cherokee County community as a town in 1897; the railroad built Woodstock Depot in 1912. Now part of metropolitan Atlanta, Woodstock recorded 35,065 residents in 2020. The Greenprints Project sets out a trail network along the Little River, Noonday Creek, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property, and streets in the city core, with links proposed toward Roswell, Alpharetta, and Cobb County. A 10-ton polished-granite memorial, unveiled in 2009, honors Woodstock residents who served in the armed forces.
