Woodville, OH

Woodville is a Sandusky County village on the west bank of the Portage River, where U.S. 20 and State Route 105 cross the water. The 2020 census counted 2,006 residents. The former Pennsylvania Railroad also crossed the river, and limestone quarrying remains the big working story around the village - Woodville calls itself the "Lime Center of the World" for a reason. That gives the place a clear shape: a highway-and-rail crossing beside the river, with quarry country behind it. Trailmarker Park is the largest of Woodville's three parks and includes the community pool, playground equipment, and a boat ramp; Busdiecker Park and Veterans Memorial Park fill out the local recreation map.

Woodmore Local School District serves the village and surrounding township, while the library and village museum keep the small center connected to its past. U.S. 20 brings a steady stream of through traffic, but the river, parks, and pool give Woodville places to linger.
