About Woodworth
Woodworth is an unincorporated Mahoning County community and census-designated place in Beaver Township, along State Routes 7 and 626 between Boardman and North Lima. Its first name, Steamtown, made sense for a place with a railroad-era post office; Steamtown’s office ran from 1857 to 1860, while Woodworth’s operated from 1874 to 1905. The community now sits in the Youngstown–Warren metropolitan area without its own municipal government. Woodworth is an Ohio road-corridor place whose old name preserves a railroad-era clue, while its current name belongs to the later chapter of the map.
