About Youngstown
Youngstown is a Mahoning River city in northeastern Ohio, historically tied to the Connecticut Western Reserve and later to steel. Early families clustered near where Mill Creek meets the Mahoning River by the late 1790s, but the city's larger story became mills, immigration, labor, decline, and reinvention. Today Youngstown has universities, community theaters, old neighborhoods, and a downtown that still carries traces of a much larger industrial past. It feels gritty, historic, and more complex than its population number suggests.
