About Wooldridge
Wooldridge was plotted in December 1901 on the land of Dr. Wooldridge, and its rise followed the River Route of the Missouri Pacific railroad between Jefferson City and Kansas City. Missouri Route 179 still runs through the village, while the adjacent Missouri River floodplain has repeatedly shaped what remains; Cooper County records note that floods erased part of the town, and a 1993 state archive photograph shows Wooldridge under water. Today the village sits in a largely agricultural county beside the Missouri River. Wooldridge's rail-and-flood history is visible in the way its road corridor occupies a landscape that can still be remade by the river.
