Wray, CO

Wray is the Yuma County seat on the northeast Colorado Plains, nine miles west of the Nebraska line at the U.S. 34 and 385 crossroads. The 2020 census counted 2,358 residents. A post office has operated here since 1882, and the town took its name from cattleman John Wray. The county-seat role gives the place a wider working map than its size suggests, with ranching, schools, health services, and regional government meeting along the Republican River country. The Wray Museum is the town's best local doorway: its rooms cover archaeology, the Battle of Beecher Island, military history, photography, and the Shady Rest General Store.

It also runs student programs, monthly events, and greater prairie chicken tours.
