About Wurtsboro Hills

Wurtsboro Hills is a Sullivan County hamlet and CDP tucked into the Town of Mamakating’s old bungalow country. More than 100 bungalows, many dating from the 1920s through the 1960s, spread across three hills west of Wurtsboro along old NY 17. The community’s name sounds like a resort map, but the local story is more specific: a hillside neighborhood shaped by small houses and the Wurtsboro Hills Owners Association, formed by developer Charles Tuxhill in the early 1900s. Stoney Trail rises to 1,186 feet; PeeWee Trail reaches 1,437. Wurtsboro Hills is a place where the neighborhood layout is the local story.
