About Wyandotte

Wyandotte is a Downriver city in Wayne County, on the Detroit River south of Detroit. The area was once a Wyandot village called Maquaqua, and the city name keeps that older history visible. Modern Wyandotte is known for its riverfront, boat club, older downtown, and dense residential streets. It has the feel of an established industrial-era Michigan city: compact in places, close to steel and river commerce history, and strongly tied to the Downriver communities that line the water south of Detroit.
