Yacolt, WA

Tucked into the forested foothills of Clark County, Yacolt is a quiet rural town about thirty miles northeast of Vancouver. With around 1,600 residents, it offers plenty of breathing room, scenic back roads, and a peaceful atmosphere that still keeps you within driving distance of the Portland metro area. The community has deep timber roots, famously surviving the historic 1902 wildfire that reshaped the surrounding hills. Today, it attracts people looking for acreage, mountain views, and a slower pace.

Life here centers on the outdoors and a tight-knit community. Families have Yacolt Primary right in town through Battle Ground Public Schools, and weekends often bring visits to Moulton Falls Regional Park or scenic train rides along the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad. Most major shopping runs require a quick trip into Battle Ground or Vancouver, but for residents, that extra drive is a small price to pay for having nature trails, rivers, and wide-open space right outside their front door.
