About Yankeetown
Yankeetown is a Levy County town just upstream from where the Withlacoochee River reaches the Gulf of Mexico. Armanis F. Knotts settled the place in 1923, first calling it Knotts Village, and the town incorporated in 1925. Riverside Drive follows the river, while old homes, oak shade, and the A.F. Knotts library give the place its distinctly local shape. Yankeetown is Gulf-side Florida with a river mouth at the front door and an Elvis movie in the backstory.
