About Yazoo City

Yazoo City is a city and the county seat of Yazoo County, Mississippi, situated along the Yazoo River. Named by French explorer Robert de La Salle in 1682 in reference to the local Yazoo tribe and historic as a Civil War naval site, the community of approximately 10,219 is served by the Yazoo City Municipal School District for public education.
