Yorklyn, PA

Yorklyn is a York County census-designated place in Springettsbury Township, just east of York. The 2010 census counted 1,912 residents. The area was once grouped with Springetts Manor for census purposes, but Yorklyn now has its own place name on the local map. Springettsbury Township was formed from the northeast part of Spring Garden Township in 1891 and takes its name from Springett Penn, a descendant of William Penn. Yorklyn is a township community rather than an incorporated borough, which is part of why its identity is tied so closely to the roads and neighborhoods around it.

The landscape around Yorklyn mixes open land, homes, and the commercial and industrial stretches that run through Springettsbury along Route 30, East Market Street, and Eastern Boulevard. Central York School District serves the CDP, while York supplies the nearby city services and larger employment map. Springettsbury's parks and township facilities add another layer to the place without giving it a separate downtown. Yorklyn is one of those Pennsylvania names that makes more sense when you look at the township around it: a rural edge pressed against a growing county hub, with school buses, traffic corridors, and old field lines sharing the same few miles.
