Youngsville, PA

Youngsville is a Warren County borough that started with timber, water, and a man named Matthew Young. Young arrived in 1796, laid out streets, built a sawmill, and gave the settlement its first names: Young's Settlement, Youngstown, or Young's Town. Youngsville became the name in 1816. The Brokenstraw Valley setting points to the early lumber trade, while the borough's Methodist congregation traces back to 1813. The place sits in the Warren County School District, but the older outline is the interesting part: a sawmill settlement that grew into a borough with its story still tied to the valley and the routes that carried people and timber through it.
