Adairville, KY

Adairville sits in Logan County near the Kentucky–Tennessee line, concentrated around U.S. 431 and Kentucky Route 591. The Red River and South Fork of the Red River give the city its geographic frame, while a Logan County branch library adds a small but useful civic connection. The name may sound like a straightforward county-road town, but the history nearby is much bigger than the city’s footprint. About three miles northeast, the Red River Meeting House was built in 1800 and hosted the camp meeting widely associated with the beginning of the Second Great Awakening. That makes Adairville a practical base for a major chapter in American religious history, with the river country and county roads still defining the approach. The local story has two scales at once: a compact home-rule city around a highway junction and a surrounding landscape remembered for a revival that traveled far beyond Logan County.
