Adamstown, PA

Tucked into the Cocalico Valley across the Lancaster and Berks county line, Adamstown is a quiet borough with around 2,000 residents. Best known as the Antiques Capital of the USA, the area draws collectors from all over to its weekend markets and vintage shops along Route 272. Main Street has a charming, lived-in feel, anchored by longtime landmarks like the Bollman Hat Company, which has been crafting hats here since 1868.

For families, local kids attend the Cocalico School District, starting at Adamstown Elementary right in the borough before heading to nearby campuses for middle and high school. Its spot along Route 222 makes it easy to commute to Reading or Lancaster, giving residents a relaxed small-town base with quick access to regional job hubs. Since the county border cuts right through neighborhood streets, local services and property taxes can differ depending on which side of town you settle on.
