About Alta

Alta is a mountain town in eastern Salt Lake County, Utah, situated in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Founded in 1865 to house silver miners and reaching an elevation of 8,950 feet as a famous hub for powder skiing, the small alpine community of approximately 284 is served by the Canyons School District for public education locally.
