Avondale Estates is a city in DeKalb County, Georgia, operating as a suburb of Atlanta near Decatur. Founded in 1924 by patent medicine magnate George Francis Willis as a planned Tudor-style community, the city of approximately 3,530 is home to Avondale Elementary School.
