Avondale Estates sits just east of Decatur, offering a quiet, tight-knit community roughly ten miles from downtown Atlanta. Home to around 3,500 residents, the city is centered around its Tudor-style commercial district and Lake Avondale, where neighbors regularly walk their dogs, jog the loop, and relax by the water.

Founded in 1924 and modeled after Stratford-upon-Avon in England, the area features distinctive half-timbered architecture throughout its downtown and older residential streets. It also holds a fun piece of roadside history as the birthplace of Waffle House, where the original 1955 diner is preserved as a museum. With walkable streets, local art studios, and a growing cluster of breweries and restaurants in the Rail Arts District, Avondale Estates gives you small-town charm right next door to the city.
