About Baltic
Baltic is the town-center village of Sprague, a Shetucket River mill town whose historic district covers nearly the whole village. William Sprague III bought the mill site in 1856, and the cotton works gave Baltic its streets, houses, and reason to exist. The old industrial shape is still easy to read, with the river beside it and the Sprague town hall in the middle. Baltic is eastern Connecticut in a mill-and-river arrangement, with a monthly river run keeping the water in the present tense.
