About Bardwell

Bardwell is a home rule-class city in and the county seat of Carlisle County, Kentucky, United States. The 2020 census counted 714 residents. The city was formally incorporated by the state assembly in 1878. Bardwell is included in the Paducah, KY-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The short version is that Bardwell carries an earlier story into the places people know and use now. That is the local read on Bardwell: its past remains attached to the places people use now. Bardwell may have initially been known as "Crittenden" after Governor John J. U.S. Routes 51 and 62 intersect in the northern part of the city. US 51 leads south 29 miles to Fulton on the Tennessee line, while US 62 leads northeast 30 miles to Paducah on the Ohio River.
