Barrett, TX

Located just east of the San Jacinto River along Highway 90, Barrett, often called Barrett Station, is a historic community about 25 miles northeast of downtown Houston. Home to roughly 3,300 residents, the town traces its roots back to 1889, when Harrison Barrett bought land to reunite his family after emancipation. The family built their own church, school, and cemetery, establishing a tight-knit settlement whose heritage is still honored today through an official Texas Century Farm designation.

Local kids attend Crosby ISD schools, starting right in the neighborhood at Barrett Elementary. Daily errands and dining are easy to handle in nearby Crosby or Dayton, while Highway 90 gives commuters a direct route into Houston for jobs, major medical centers, and entertainment.
