Benavides, TX

Benavides is a quiet, tight-knit town in Duval County, tucked into the South Texas brush country roughly halfway between Laredo and Corpus Christi. The community got its start in 1881 as a stop along the Texas-Mexican Railway, taking its name from local rancher Plácido Benavides, who donated the land for the original depot. It quickly grew into a central hub for area ranchers and farmers, establishing the strong Mexican-American and ranching traditions that still define the town.
