Black Eagle, MT

Black Eagle sits right along the Missouri River just northeast of Great Falls, named after the falls and dam at the edge of town. The community started out as a bustling industrial settlement, earning the nickname “Little Chicago” back when copper smelters and refineries drew workers to the riverbanks. Great Falls has expanded around it over the decades, but Black Eagle still holds on to its own independent identity and deep working-class roots.

Today, Black Eagle offers a quiet, neighborly atmosphere with easy access to outdoor recreation and city conveniences. Giant Springs State Park sits just down the road, giving residents quick access to riverside trails, trout fishing, and one of the largest freshwater springs in the country. Between famous longtime supper clubs, scenic river views, and a five-minute drive across the water into Great Falls for work and shopping, it is a comfortable, down-to-earth place to settle down.
