Castleton Four Corners, VT

Castleton Four Corners is a Rutland County census-designated place in the town of Castleton, made up of the unincorporated villages of Castleton Corners and Hydeville. The 2020 census counted 699 residents. Vermont Route 4A is the main road through the CDP, running west three miles to Fair Haven village and east through Castleton village toward West Rutland. The Castleton River borders the area to the south, giving the crossroads a clear relationship to the surrounding water and hills.

Route 4A still does the work of a village street, carrying school trips, errands, and visitors between the two small settlements. Hydeville's post office remains a recognizable stop on the western stretch, while the wider town of Castleton keeps a deep architectural history shaped by village fires, mills, lakeside resorts, and older homes. The nearby Castleton train station and Delaware and Hudson Rail Trail add another layer to the town's transportation story. Castleton Four Corners is a small place, but its roads connect several distinct pieces of western Rutland County.
