Catalina, AZ

Catalina is a Pima County census-designated place north of Tucson, where growth keeps pressing against a rural character residents have tried to preserve. Much of its story is tied to Golder Ranch and the land around what is now Catalina State Park. The place works less like a town center and more like a desert-edge community: homes, open views, Catalina Mountain scenery, and practical ties to the Tucson area. Its appeal is space and setting more than civic polish.
