Sitting along the border of Charles and St. Mary's counties, Charlotte Hall offers a quiet, rural slice of Southern Maryland. The community dates back to the 1700s, originally taking shape around a natural freshwater spring and a historic academy named in honor of Queen Charlotte. You can still see that deep history along Old Route 5, where preserved buildings give the center of town a relaxed, classic feel.

Today, the old academy grounds house the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, while the rest of the area is defined by rolling farmland, popular farm stands, and open skies.
