About Christiana
Christiana is a Lancaster County borough whose name honors Christiana Noble, wife of an early settler, and whose older name was Nobleville. The borough is remembered far beyond its small map because of the 1851 Christiana Resistance, when freedom seekers and their allies confronted a Maryland slaveholder’s party trying to seize people who had escaped slavery. Pennsylvania 372 runs through town between Parkesburg and Quarryville. Christiana is southeastern Pennsylvania with a road through the middle and a hard national history attached to its name.
