Conyngham, PA

Conyngham is a Luzerne County borough in the valley south of Hazleton, with Sugarloaf Township wrapping around it and Pennsylvania Route 93 running through. The 2020 census counted 1,820 residents. The first land patent came in 1769, when the valley was known as Venison Market; later the community took the Conyngham name from Captain Gustavus Conyngham, a Revolutionary-era naval figure. The borough incorporated in 1901, and its small downtown still sits on the old Main Street pattern. Pennsylvania Route 93 keeps it in the valley's everyday traffic.

Whispering Willows Park and the George Ernst pool give the borough a shared outdoor center, while the former school building now holds municipal offices and a library branch. The Hazleton Area School District serves local students, and the road north into Hazleton is the practical link for larger shopping, work, and services.
