Courtland, MN

Courtland is a Nicollet County city with a name that changed before the town settled into its current shape. The local story starts with Hilo, the earlier name for the site, then Courtland was chosen in 1865 and the town was platted in 1882. Those dates give the place its shape: first a name on the map, then a formal town plan. Courtland is part of the Mankato–North Mankato metropolitan area, but its identity stays smaller and more specific—a Minnesota community remembered through one renaming, one plat, and a name that stuck.
