Dayton, MT

Tucked along the northwest shore of Flathead Lake, Dayton is a quiet waterfront community with around a hundred residents. Set right along Highway 93, the town offers wide-open views across the water toward Wild Horse Island. Living here gives you a peaceful, laid-back lifestyle right on the lake, with everyday essentials still close at hand: Polson is about 20 miles south, and Kalispell is an easy 30-mile drive north.

Dayton originally started a couple of miles inland before shifting to the shoreline in the early 1900s, growing around logging, homesteading, and lake travel. Today, it is well known as a favorite launch point for sailboats and trips out to Wild Horse Island State Park. It is also home to Mission Mountain Winery, Montana's first bonded winery, adding local flavor to a tranquil lakeside setting.
