About Deerfield
Deerfield was settled in the 1830s and platted in 1871 on the Marmaton River corridor. U.S. 54 now crosses the Vernon County village, with Dry Wood Creek entering the Marmaton east of town. Missouri's city map shows a compact street grid along the highway, while the Missouri Department of Conservation's regional Marmaton access provides boating, fishing, hiking, and wildlife habitat. Nevada, about seven miles east, is the nearest larger service center. The river, highway, and Nevada connection still organize the village's practical geography.
