The restored 1925 Des Plaines Theatre anchors the downtown entertainment scene with live music, comedy acts, and on-site dining, while the library plaza hosts community events and the annual Taste of Des Plaines street festival. For fresh air, you can walk or bike for miles along the shaded Des Plaines River Trail, or spend an afternoon at Lake Park enjoying golf, paddleboating, fishing, and lakeside walking paths around Lake Opeka.
