Edon, OH

Edon is a Williams County village in northwest Ohio, about two miles east of the Indiana line where Ohio Routes 34 and 49 meet. It was platted in 1867, and a post office has operated here since that same year. The location places Edon in the Buckeye Border area, with farm roads running toward Indiana, Bryan, Montpelier, and the rest of Williams County.

School life is a large part of the town’s character. Edon High School is the only high school in the Edon Northwest Local Schools district, and its teams play as the Bombers. The village has also sent notable athletes into bigger arenas: Mel Held pitched for the Baltimore Orioles, while Dave Herman played at Michigan State and later for the New York Jets, including the team that won Super Bowl III. Those names give local school history a reach well beyond the village limits. A public library branch, local parks, churches, and small businesses fill out the everyday village circuit.
