Enosburg Falls, VT

At the 2020 census, Enosburg Falls was a Franklin County village of 1,356 people in the town of Enosburgh, gathered around the Missisquoi River and its falls. Water gave the place its first big advantage: mills could work here, and the village grew into a regional business center. A horse-and-cattle remedy developed by Kendall, followed by the Missisquoi Valley Railroad, helped push Enosburg Falls from a mill settlement toward the dairy-and-trade community people recognize today.

The Vermont Dairy Festival is the local calendar event that turns all of that history into a weekend. The Enosburg Falls Lions Club has organized it since 1956, with a parade, baking contests, a milk run, and money that goes back into community projects; 2026 marks the festival’s seventieth year. The Enosburgh Historical Society keeps another layer in the old freight depot, with a caboose and a log cabin nearby, while the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail follows the former railroad. Enosburg Falls is a small village with water, rails, cows, and a festival that knows how to put the whole combination on display.
