Essex Fells, NJ

Essex Fells is a quiet, leafy borough set in the rolling hills of western Essex County. Home to around 2,200 residents, the town is known for its peaceful, wooded atmosphere, with winding roads, mature trees, and large lots featuring historic Colonials and custom estates. The borough has preserved a strictly residential setting without commercial strips or traffic lights, giving the entire neighborhood the feel of a private park.

For families moving to the area, younger children attend the local elementary school right in town before moving on to the West Essex Regional district for middle and high school. Neighbors often cross paths around Essex Fells Pond, a favorite local spot for casual walks and winter ice skating. While the borough itself remains quiet and secluded, neighboring towns like Caldwell and Montclair are just minutes away for dining, shopping, and commutes into New York City.
