Fawn Grove, PA

Fawn Grove is a York County borough in southern Pennsylvania, with 475 residents in the 2020 census. The settlement began near the Baltimore and York roads after Richard Webb leased land to Samuel Hugo and Amos Waters. Amos Waters became postmaster in 1821, and the name Fawn Grove stuck after locals associated the nearby grove with young deer. A charter made the borough in 1881, carving the compact place from Fawn Township.

Today the borough sits close to the Mason-Dixon Line, with Main Street buildings, churches, the Citizens Volunteer Fire Company, and South Eastern School District facilities giving it a distinct local center. The district’s administration building, intermediate school, and middle school are all on Main Street in Fawn Grove, while high school and elementary campuses serve the wider southern York County area. Each summer, Olde Tyme Days brings tractor pulls, gas engines, music, food, vendors, children’s events, and a parade to benefit the fire company. Fawn Grove is a small Pennsylvania borough where a deer-named crossroads, a school district, a volunteer fire company, and a long-running summer gathering still fit together.
